「Over Cancer Together~

OCT’s theme is “Cancer Survivorship”

Cancer Survivorship –This term refers to the lives of all people who have been affected by cancer in some way. Survivors include patients who have been diagnosed, their families, caregivers, and friends. Through the voices of cancer survivors, we pursue to find better ways to live with cancer and how to overcome physical, emotional and practical challenges. We strive to live fully on our own terms.

Over Cancer Together

“Over Cancer Together (OCT)” campaign aims to achieve “a society in which all citizens, including cancer patients, know about, confront, and don’t give in to cancer”.*1. During the OCT campaign, many cancer survivors will share their experiences by speaking up about their own stories about cancer to raise awareness of cancer related challenges in Japan. Cancer survivors include patients and people who are affected by cancer, such as families, caregivers, bereaved family members, and friends Cancer knows no age, gender or border.
As medical care advances, the cancer mortality rate has been gradually decreasing thanks to better treatment outcomes and early diagnosis. According to the national cancer survey one in every two Japanese people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.*2 Cancer can happen to any of us. In other words, it is time for Japan society to unite and seek better lives for its citizens as cancer survivors.

  • We offer a training program on how to make effective speeches in public for positive change.
  • We host various events for cancer survivors during the OCT campaign for survivorship awareness all over the country.
